Why hello there!

Things have a been a whirlwind, and 2019 is the perfect time to have a fresh start! Seems like I just started my business and it’s been going strong and gaining steam ever since!! Lately I’ve felt a spark and I felt the time was right to bring blogging back to you guys! So let’s start with an introduction!

I’m Shannon (But you know that!) and I own Shannon Prince Photography. I often get questions about how I started, where I grew up, and so many more questions! So here is a little bit into my life! I’ll try not to ramble but I can’t promise anything.

I’ve loved capturing moments for as long as I can remember - I remember back when I was in 4H and went to summer camps, I would bring a disposable camera and take tons of photos.

For real, I brought way too many cameras with me (thank goodness for digital cameras now!). I graduated from Thousand Oaks High school in 2000, went on to get my Bachelors in 2004 (in Psychology), then went on to get my Masters in 2009 (Clinical Psychology). I realized I loved the data/research side of my degree and went in to Data Analyst work. After I got pregnant with my second son we made the family decision for me to be home with our boys. I started to slowly dabble in photography here and there. Once my second son was born I found new life and love that turned into a passion shortly after.

Once I acquired the appropriate things needed to start a business (license, website, upgraded camera, insurance, etc) Shannon Prince Photography was born! I have been eternally grateful for the love and support around me. I’ve had extremely special sessions, and met so many wonderful members of the community! I have learned and grown so much since I started (i’ll have another blog post on my before/after transformation). Lots of learning, research, paying attention to other photos that inspire me. I always say i’m a life long learner!

My boys are 3.5 and 5.5 now- and all boy! They are Fun, and keep me busy (like all the time!). I tend to work more in the evenings after they go to bed. Facts about me: 1. I hate cheese on my pizza (i’ve been picking it off as young as 5 years old). 2. I am terrified of butterflies. I’ve been at a few session where I show that fear, haha. I realize I look insane, but for real, “lepidopterophobia” is a real thing! 3. I LOVE coffee (I drink it black), red wine, and on occasion a good margarita (Heyyyy, know a good place? Let’s go grab a drink!). 4. Reality TV is my jam. 4. I love traveling so much! My soul is so happy when i’m exploring new places!
